What Will Happen?

Pre Float

We will welcome you to Res(e)t Float Centre and give you time to read through our waiver form in the comfort of our cosy reception lounge (if you have not done so online). We will then take you through to your own private float room and talk about what happens the first time you float, what to expect and how to use the room and float pod. As well as talking about some health and safety aspects of the room we will share our best hints and tips for what to do when in the float pod. Our vast experience can help you make the most of your first float experience to ensure you reach the optimum level of rest and relaxation.

After your guide (Susan or Donna) has left the room you have time to shower before entering the pod. This is important to remove any debris, cosmetics or perfumes. We recommend an ambient temperature shower, too hot or too cold can take your skin longer to return to 35.7 degrees which is the same temperature as our pod water. The same temperature means you stop feeling the water and you cant make out where your body ends and the water starts!

We provide ear plugs which we highly recommend you wear throughout your float. Your ears are submerged under the water for the duration of the float and we don’t recommend getting water in your ear canal. So pop those plugs in and enjoy the peace and quiet they will provide too! We also have a sachet of Vaseline for you if you have any nips, cuts or abrasions on your skin. While Epsom salts can be a super healer and great for your skin it can be nippy if you have an open cut. So cover it up and forget about it in the pod.

We recommend you floating au natural(naked). This is to take away any sensation of touch clothing brings and because Epsom salts dry in the air quickly and can become crystalised which can make swimwear uncomfortable. Remember your in your own private locked room, so relax and be at one with yourself.

Step in carefully. We have the best anti slip flooring available both in the pod and in the float room but Epsom salts is exceedingly slippy. You will feel just how silky smooth it is on your skin when you are in the pod! (we suggest bringing your flip flops or sliders while in the room if you have them).  Bring the lid down to close. Its manually operated so its very easy to pop open if you need it to. The lid is light and easy to manoeuvre. There is no buttons or electronics controlling it so you know it will always open easily when you need it.  For some people claustrophobia can be a concern – Please know that you can leave the lid fully open if you choose, however when you see the huge size of the pod you may just feel its not so much of a concern.

Our pods have two buttons in them. One is the control for the light which has 3 settings to try out. The other is an emergency call button which will alert us to check in if pressed.

      Acclimatise Yourself

We recommend exploring the pod dimensions! Star shape yourself and touch the sides so you can explore the space you have. Familiarise yourself with the light settings and any accessories in the pod such as the halo head pillow.  It may time to get used to the zero gravity and how weightlessness feels on your body. This is normal. We suggest gently moving your body into different positions to see what is comfortable for you. Motion is Lotion and movement can feel amazing on stiff and sore muscles and tendons when they are relaxed and you’re not holding onto them!  Focus on your breath for a while. It can sound loud and easy to concentrate on. If your mind wanders try to refocus on your breathing and let it go again.

At the end of your float session gentle spa music will fill the pod alerting you to the session ending. When the music stops exit the pod and shower to remove salts on your body and hair. Once dressed you can access our hair drying room if required.

        Time To Enter The Pod

We welcome you to relax with a cool glass of water in our reception lounge. Its important to rehydrate after your float session and take some time to come too before you travel onwards. We welcome you to stay and chat for a while or read some of the literature around the centre.
